Large scale construction projects require supply networks to deliver thousands of component parts. Embodied within them are minerals, energy, water, labour, waste and other human rights abuses. This thesis focuses on the UK construction industry and the ability of the main contractor to affect the sustainability of the final asset.
This article considers pre-qualification question (PQQ) sustainability data captured down the supply chain, from clients down to raw material suppliers. We consider the types of sustainability information requested at each stage of the supply chain and ask whether they help meet the objective of building sustainable assets.
