Yvonne Jamal

Yvonne Jamal is co-founder and chairwoman of the non-profit JARO Institute for Sustainability and Digitalization in Berlin, Germany. As a business economist, she worked in the tourism industry for more than 15 years and later built up the indirect procurement division for the fashion retailer Zalando SE. During this time, she discovered her passion for sustainable procurement. In order to qualify herself in the field of sustainability, she successfully completed the scientific training programme ‘Sustainable Business and CSR’ at the University of Rostock. With the JARO Institute, she wants to support procurement professionals with expertise in sustainable purchasing practices. With the JARO Academy, the institute offers a modular e-learning programme that can be used to train both buyers and suppliers. Various publications, the sustainable supplier network and the MACHTFRAGE podcast provide valuable information on how to take action. New members are welcome to join the institute and get involved in working groups. She also volunteers as a regional board member of the German Association of Materials Management, Purchasing and Logistics (BME) and the Sustainable Procurement Pledge (Travel & Hospitality chapter) and is a member of the advisory boards of The Climate Choice, Unite SE and GMVK.
